AMIGA A1200 Public Domain
O.K. So there is'nt much available for the A1200 at the moment,
I think this may have something to do with COMMODORE not releasing
the new AGA chipset reference book. Because of this, not alot of
Coders can get to grips with any new routines that can make use of
the new AGA chipset.
But having said this, what is out now is'nt that bad, and at least
there are some good coders out there that want to make an effort
and try and get some good demos and utilities out in the P.D
Libraries.
So heres a few reviews of some of the programs that you can get
your hands on now.
PLANET GROOVE (Team Hoi) A1200 DEMO 1 DISK
PLANET GROOVE from Team Hoi was the very first P.D DEMO to make
use of the new 256 colour AGA graphics mode.(even though it might
not look like it!)
The Demo starts of with the Team Hoi logo on the screen with a
256 colour graduated backdrop and some rather nice fireworks
effects.
There is also some nice dot Sine-Scroll effects also on a 256
colour screen.
Right at the end of the demo there are two pictures, one of them
is a scene from the commercial game HOI which the Coders of this
demo produced and the other one is of a fractal, Nothing unusual
there, But what is nice is the fact that the two pictures are moved
around the screen and faded in and out of each other whilst the
now customary scroll text scrolls accross the bottom.
All this makes up for a rather nice demo, but i'm afraid to say it
still would'nt look out of place on an A500. But I suppose it's
nice to see somebody making an effort!
WORKBENCH 3.0 SCREENS (W/BENCH SCREENS!) 1 DISK
The good thing about Workbench 3 is the way you can add pictures
into the background, but if you are not that good at drawing, the
results can be a bit on the tacky side!
This is where this disk stands out, it contains 13 IFF images
for use as backdrops for the Workbench screen, Some of them are
actual pictures, while some of them are the type of pictures you
would expect to see behind the program listings on Television!
These pictures are rather nice and consist of such things as
Waves, Marble effect and other such things.
If your into customizing your Workbench, then this disk is for
you.
My personal favourite has the same logo as is on the front cover
of the A1200 Instruction book !
MINDWARP (Team Hoi) A1200 DEMO 1 DISK
This is the second demo from Team Hoi and I have to say, It is
much better than there first one! (Planet Groove)
It starts with a scroll text telling you about the A1200
(see MINDWARP SCROLL on this disk to read what it says)
when you have read this, (on the demo disk, not on this disk!)
you can access the demo by clicking on the "Taking over the
system" option on the menu bar.
Then after a short pause, the demo takes over, with 256 colour
backdrops and the usual graphic equalizer type graphics,
only this time they are used to knock what look like marbles
around the screen!
The music is also very good, ranging from Dance to Ambient
styles of music.
All in All its quite a nice demo (Even though COMMODORE haven't
yet released the reference books for the AGA graphics yet!)
All the above titles are (or should be) available from your local
P.D Library.
Or are also available direct from us for only £1.00 per disk
plus 50p Post and package to total order price.
